What's the quality of the workmanship on these?
The reason i ask.... I've got a 2 year old set of renown's, that in my opinion aren't up to Gretsch's standards. Every drum is slightly out of round and all bearind edges are terrible. I tried and tried to get Gretsch to fix them, but apparently their customer service isn't up to par as well. I bought a set of Ayotte's for gigging and only use the Gretsch's for home practice.
Just curious,
Mani

I have only looked at these in the store. I haven't taken the heads off or anything like that. They look fine to me, with a quick visual inspection through the bottom heads.
Does anyone know if they've improved their quality control in the last two years, and/or with the Pure Wood series?
Brad, when will that review be published?
Bill

My deadline was today, so probably in 4 weeks or so. The workmanship was good. The finishes were nice too. I'm in the market for a new kit (or two) and thought about the cherry kit, but I always buy 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 toms (even though I usually only use the middle 3!).
It's a shell pack (with tom clamps and fl tom legs) and each kit lists for $3385. G2's - toms, Emad - kick, and a coated G1 on snare. They have new hinged tom mounts too.
